North Dakota Home Inspector Training Requirements
Want to become a registered home inspector in North Dakota?
North Dakota recently passed legislation that requires home inspectors to register with the state. According to the North Dakota state website, here is what is required to successfully register:
1. Be at least 18 years old
2. Complete the Home Inspector Registration Application (SFN 54381)
3. Submit proof of satisfactory completion of an examination such as the National Home Inspector Exam (NHIE) or ICC exam
4. Submit proof of current errors and omissions (E&O) insurance of at least $100,000 covering home inspection activities. To learn more about E&O insurance, click here.
5. A $200 registration fee
Although education is not specified, you want to make sure you have good training so you know how to properly perform home inspections. Also, you need education to learn the material so you can pass the required examination. Both the ICC and NHIE exams are very difficult. However, we recommend taking the NHIE exam since the ICC exam exclusively covers building code, something that home inspectors are not required to do. The NHIE covers home inspection.
A Better School of Building Inspection has been training home inspectors for over 26 years. We recommend our $449 60-Hour Home Inspection Online Course. This package includes the items listed below. For more detail on any of these items, please click here. :
