Interested in Becoming a Home Inspector in Virginia?? Virginia has "Voluntary" certification of their home inspectors. This means you can do home inspections in Virginia without certification, but you cannot say you are "certified" until you have completed the state requirements. In fact, the Board expects you to do inspections before you are certified because one of the requirements for certification is to have completed up to 100 inspections. From our reading of the regulations, the requirements to be certified are as follows: 1. You must be at least 18 years old. We offer the following suggestions to meet these requirements: 1. Come to our 8-Day live training course in Salt Lake City, UT for $1375. We offer one of the most hand-on, in-the-field intensive courses in the country. People from over 40 states have come to our class. In the 8-day class, you will learn both residential and new construction inspection, plus you will complete the classroom hours for certification. 2. (This suggestion is from actual people in Virginia). If you don't want to spend up to $3000 to take a class in Virginia (plus the expense of traveling to where classes might be held), start with our Virginia Start-Up Package. Learn at home so you can start doing the inspections you need to advance to certification, plus you will be earning money in the process. Then, when you have the inspections under your belt, you can go to class and complete the certification requirements. Virginia Start-Up Package. This package includes 12 DVDs, a 500-page Manual, the Residential Inspection Forms Disk, and a study guide for the state test. This is a savings of over $245 over our regular prices. From the DVDs and manual, you will learn about the defects you should be able to identify as a home inspector. With the forms disk, you have a comprehensive chick list that helps you look at over 1000 items in the homes you inspect. If you decide to come to our class after you have purchased the Virginia Start-Up Package, we will deduct the $499 you paid, so you would pay only $876 for the 8-Day course or only $500 for the 6-Day course.
