Interested in Becoming a Home Inspector in Massachusetts?? To obtain a home inspector license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you must have a high school diploma or GED. You also must pass the National Home Inspectors Exam (NHIE). Our home study or live training courses will help you prepare for the NHIE. To become an associate home inspector, you must find a licensed home inspector to be your mentor and you must perform 25 home inspections under direct supervision of a licensed home inspector. Once you have been an associate home inspector for at least one year and performed at least 100 more paid inspections under the direct supervision of licensed home inspector, you may become a licensed home inspector in Massachusetts. Good luck finding someone who will apprentice you. Since they passed this law a few years ago, it appears that fewer than 100 new inspectors have been licensed. More inspectors were grandfathered in before the apprenticeship requirement. For more information and details on Massachusetts Home Inspector Licensing, visit the Massachusetts Board of Registration of Home Inspectors Web Site, or contact the Massachusetts Board of Registration of Home Inspectors by mail or phone:
